The roles differ with the different types of the business needs from cars, furniture, educational, sports, blogs, magazines,etc. It has also a lot of things to do with understanding the business and making an effective layouts that really satisfy the involved person and making the customers.

There are two types of Web design : One is UI (user interface) and UX(user experience). Both the types are some sort of different. There are a lot of confusions with the two types. Many people thinks it very differently. Both the types separates the requirement of the people who wants some presentation of great work. Let me clear for you.These topics are very popular in many developed companies regarding the work assignments given to the designer.

The UI is very simple and straightforward. Its like designing the known design, and it covers the works like redesigning something or you know what is to be like. For example, you have to work something for the client and the client have given you the clear cut idea or the samples. UI workers should ensure that the layout made is perfectly placed by looking through pixel by pixel and the end result is awesome. The tools you require for this work is photoshop, sketchings, etc. You can say the role of this type of work is like pushing up the pixels regularly to make it absolutely great.

On the other hand, UX is a user experience and it is different from the normal easy design. You can say UI is a subset of the UX. UX involves making something and you really dont know whether the client will be happy to see this and you have to do changes a lot. It also includes  some kind of functionality or some call to action. Some people says it a development of the design. UX involves in many changes of the version of presented work and finally results a great work of website development.
Therefore, you can see this as a refined user experience.

 What are the things involved here in UX?

-The main purpose is to present the best user experience and user conversion to client.
-Displaying the error messages rightfully and appropriately.
-Making really cool call to actions and make the users to stay here on your website.
-Make sure there is no loading issues and console errors.
-The site build should be SEO friendly and important content at the top.
-Continuously checking the site for the multiple devices with different resolutions.
-Using the low weight images and using the content more and more.

Therefore, the roles and responsibilities depends upon the type of work given by the client.

UI costs less whereas UX costs more, because of the work is done to improve the website.
