Things to consider in website's effectiveness evaluation

Website is a front base of your idea to create leads. It poses equal importance as you have a traditional shop in the main road of your town, where a lot of people gathers always. As you evaluate your shop to look different and very pretty, you should evaluate your website's effectiveness towards the visitors, so that your customers come back to your site time to time. It will make your brand an On-Demand-Brand.

Things to consider in website's effectiveness evaluation

Here we will discuss the different things to consider to evaluate your website's effectiveness.

To judge an effective website you should ask the random viewers (not the owners). For this moment, close your eyes and think of yourself as a customer coming first time in the website and ask the following questions:

  1. Which part of the website you look at first? A normal visitor takes only a few seconds to decide whether to stick to this or close it. It means your landing page element should attract the viewer to find something interesting, so that he can stay with this page and visit more pages and finally contact the administrator. Make your first noticeable items look interesting.
  2. Does it seems easy to notice at first what this web portal is all about? Clearly the visitor have a very little time to decide whether this is for me or what I was searching. So you have to write clearly about this at front landing as a short note.
  3. Main selling idea of your products is placed at the top? Many people are lazy, they don't want to read a lot of thing in your site to know your selling idea. So place your selling idea/ way you provide service at the top to notice easily.
  4. Is your product description easy to notice? The customer wants to know how some product/service will make an impact in their life. So you have to make the features of your products/services easy to notice.
  5. Does you have a clear call to action? Call to actions are very important for the viewers to move along nicely/quickly. For example: "VIEW DEMO", "SIGN UP", "START TRIAL" etc. Don't make to many call to actions, make only a few 2-3 only that should be easy to notice.
  6. Is your site very busy/jarring/compressed with at lot of things? Evaluate to make the colors/images high quality that reflects your idea. Don't make it messed with too many things at once. Make equal distance between items/images/texts. Making a grid based layout, that is nicely arranged into sections in your page balances everything in a flow.
  7. Are the fonts contrasting and eye-catching? The font color, size, family etc should not be distracting and be easier to read on the eye. Vibrant font colors and size make viewers happy to see and also gives a modern look.
  8. Is there any bulky texts of paragraphs present in any section? The users don't want to read very bulky paragraphs and it is normally left to read. So, don't use such things.
  9. Do you have clear menu items? Menu items should be clear and should take you to actual pages. The contact and about pages are must and should be included in the menu.
  10. Do you have the business information? People really wants to know that who are the people they are dealing with. Who is the owner, the employees , where is the office, how to contact, are they real of fake etc.
  11. What is the load time? Generally most people closes the site while its loading, because its take way too much time to load its contents. Those have heavy load time because they uses bulky things like images, java-scripts, etc. It needs to be evaluated.
  12. Is it mobile friendly and responsive?  As you know 70% of the web traffic comes from mobile. So it needs to be mobile friendly to catch-up those mobile people.
  13. Do you have got videos about your products? Most people feels happy to see videos , because they don't want to work hard to know about your stuff by reading the texts.
